- Baking sheet
- parchment paper
- grater or zester

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- Zest of 2 lemons
- 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 tsp baking powder
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the lemon zest and lemon juice to the butter mixture, and mix well to incorporate the flavors.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of the dough and roll them into balls. Place the cookie dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
- Gently press down on each cookie dough ball with the back of a fork to create a crisscross pattern and flatten them slightly.
- Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for approximately 10-12 minutes or until the edges turn golden brown.
- Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, these delightful Maggiano's Lemon Cookies are ready to be enjoyed!

Notes
Recipe Notes:
- Ensure that the butter and other ingredients are at room temperature for optimal mixing.
- Use a fine grater or zester to create finely grated lemon zest for even distribution of flavor.
- For thicker cookies, chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before baking.
- Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain freshness.
- For an extra burst of lemon flavor, use freshly squeezed lemon juice instead of bottled juice.
- Dust the cooled cookies with powdered sugar for an elegant finishing touch.
- Experiment with variations by adding ingredients like white chocolate, poppy seeds, or coconut to customize the cookies to your taste.
