- 8 cups of apples (peeled, cored, and thinly sliced)
- ½ cup of apples (peeled, cored, and thinly sliced)
- ¼ cup of granulated sugar
- ¼ cup of brown sugar
- 1 tsp of ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp of ground nutmeg
- ¼ tsp of salt
- 2 tbsp of unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 egg yolk mixed with 1 tablespoon of milk (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.

- Brush the egg wash over the top crust.
- Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
- Let the pie cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes
Recipe Notes:
- Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for the perfect balance of flavors.
- Cover the edges of the pie with foil or a pie shield to prevent them from getting too dark.
- Let the pie cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing to allow the filling to set.
- Use cold ingredients when making the crust to ensure a flaky texture.
- Don’t overwork the dough – handle it gently and as little as possible.
- To prevent a watery filling, sprinkle a tablespoon of flour or cornstarch over the apples before adding the sugar and spices.
