Notes
Recipe Notes:
- For an extra crispy top, add some breadcrumbs or crushed potato chips on top of the mac and cheese before baking.
- For a creamier and richer texture, add a dollop of cream cheese or sour cream to the cheese sauce.
- Use good quality cheddar cheese for the best flavor.
- Cook the pasta al dente so that it doesn’t become too soft and mushy.
- Whisk the flour and butter mixture constantly to avoid lumps in the cheese sauce.
- Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or nutmeg for extra flavor.
- For a creamier texture, use half-and-half instead of milk.
- To make it gluten-free, use gluten-free pasta and a gluten-free flour blend in the roux.
