Grammy Pammy Sugar Cookie Recipe
These delicious sugar cookies are made with cream of tartar for a unique tangy flavor and perfect texture.
Equipment
- Mixing bowls
- electric mixer
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Baking sheet
- parchment paper or silicone mat
Ingredients
- 2¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp cream of tartar
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Recipe Notes: Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week, or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Special Tips: To make the cookies even more special, try adding a sprinkle of sea salt to the tops before baking. Additionally, chilling the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking will help prevent the cookies from spreading too much.
