Equipment

  • Grill or skillet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground venison
  • ¼ cup diced onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • Optional: additional spices or herbs, cooked bacon, shredded cheese

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground venison, diced onion, minced garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper. Use your hands to mix everything together until it's well combined.
  • If you're using any additional spices or herbs, add them to the mixture now.
  • Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.
  • Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If you're using a skillet, add a little bit of oil to the pan to prevent the burgers from sticking.
  • Cook the burgers for 3-4 minutes per side, or until they're cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
  • Serve the burgers on buns with your favorite toppings and condiments.

Notes

Recipe Notes:
  • Be careful not to overmix the meat, as this can lead to tough, dense burgers.
  • To keep the burgers from drying out, don’t overcook them. Use a meat thermometer to ensure they’re cooked through but still juicy.
  • Venison is leaner than beef, so it’s important to handle it safely and cook it thoroughly to prevent the spread of harmful bacteria.

Special Tips:
  • Add moisture to the burger mixture by adding diced onion and garlic.
  • To keep the burgers juicy, don’t overcook them. Cook them to an internal temperature of 160°F and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
  • Try experimenting with different toppings and seasonings to find your favorite flavor combinations.
