Din Tai Fung Green Beans
These savory and spicy green beans are stir-fried with garlic, soy sauce, chili oil, and rice wine for a delicious and healthy side dish.

Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp chili oil
- 1 tbsp rice wine
- Sesame seeds and chopped scallions for garnish
Instructions
- Blanch the green beans in boiling water for 2-3 minutes, then rinse them under cold water and drain.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat and add the minced garlic. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the blanched green beans to the pan and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes.
- Add the soy sauce, sugar, chili oil, and rice wine to the pan and continue stir-frying for another 1-2 minutes until the beans are fully coated in the sauce.
- Transfer the green beans to a serving dish and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped scallions.

Notes
Recipe Notes: Be careful not to overcook the green beans as they can become mushy and lose their vibrant green color. Use caution when adding chili oil as it can be very spicy.
Special Tips: To make this dish spicier, add more chili oil or sprinkle some red pepper flakes on top. Blanching the green beans first helps them retain their shape and texture. Use high heat when stir-frying the green beans for a nice sear and char on them.
