Equipment
- Medium-sized saucepan
- wooden sticks
- candy thermometer
Ingredients
- 6 medium-sized apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Gala)
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- ½ cup of unsalted butter
- ¼ cup of heavy cream
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract
- ½ tsp of sea salt
Instructions
- Wash and dry the apples. Remove the stem and insert the wooden sticks into the center of each apple.
- In a medium-sized saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and sea salt. Stir the mixture until it comes to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 10-12 minutes until it thickens and turns golden brown. Stir the mixture occasionally to prevent burning.
- Dip each apple into the caramel mixture, making sure to coat it evenly. Use a spoon to help coat the apple if needed.
- Place the coated apples onto a sheet of wax paper and let them cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
