Gordon Ramsay’s Chicken Mozzarella Recipe

This mouthwatering Italian-inspired dish combines tender chicken breasts with tangy tomato sauce and melted mozzarella cheese.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes, drained
  • ¼ cup dry white wine
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes
  • ¼ tsp dried oregano
  • ¼ tsp dried basil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • slices fresh mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
  • Olive oil, for cooking

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  • Season the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper on both sides.
  • Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat and add enough olive oil to coat the bottom of the skillet.
  • Add the chicken breasts to the skillet and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  • Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  • Add the diced tomatoes, white wine, minced garlic, red pepper flakes, oregano, and basil to the same skillet.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  • Place the chicken breasts back in the skillet, on top of the tomato sauce.
  • Top each chicken breast with a slice of fresh mozzarella cheese.
  • Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Garnish with fresh basil leaves and serve hot.

Recipe Notes:
  • You can use bone-in chicken instead of boneless chicken, but the cooking time will be longer.
  • You can use canned tomato sauce instead of diced tomatoes, but diced tomatoes with their juices provide more flavor.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.

  • Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness for even cooking.
  • Use a cast-iron skillet to sear the chicken for a nice crust.
  • Use fresh herbs, such as basil, oregano, or thyme, for the best flavor.
