Brenda Gantt’s Orange Slice Cake
A delicious Southern classic that combines simple ingredients with the bright, citrusy flavor of fresh oranges.
Equipment
- Large mixing bowl
- Mixing spoon or electric mixer
- 9×13 inch baking dish

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup chopped orange slices
- 1 tbsp fresh orange zest (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until fully incorporated.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until well combined.
- Fold in the chopped orange slices and orange zest (if using).
- Pour the batter into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
