Brenda Gantt Onion Casserole
A savory and crunchy casserole made with sweet Vidalia onions and buttery crackers.
Equipment
- Large skillet
- Mixing bowl
- 9×13 inch baking dish
Ingredients
- 6 cups of thinly sliced Vidalia onions (or any sweet onion variety)
- 2 cups of buttery crackers, crushed
- ½ cup of butter, melted
- ½ tsp of garlic powder
- ½ tsp of paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, sauté the onions in butter until they are soft and caramelized. Season with salt and pepper.
- In a bowl, mix together the crushed crackers, melted butter, garlic powder, and paprika.
- In a 9×13-inch baking dish, layer half of the onions on the bottom. Spread half of the cracker mixture over the onions. Repeat with the remaining onions and cracker mixture.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
