Bill Miller Green Beans
A classic Southern side dish made with fresh green beans, bacon, and savory seasonings.
Equipment
- Large skillet
- slotted spoon
Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
- 4 slices bacon, chopped
- ½ cup diced onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ¼ tsp red pepper flakes
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crisp. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the onion and garlic and sauté for 2-3 minutes, until softened.
- Add the green beans to the skillet and sauté for 5-7 minutes, until they start to soften.
- Add the salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes, and continue to sauté for another 5-7 minutes, until the beans are tender.
- Stir in the bacon and serve hot.

Recipe Notes: For best results, it’s recommended to blanch the green beans in boiling water for 3-4 minutes before sautéing them in the skillet.
Special Tips: Use fresh green beans for the best flavor and texture, and be careful not to overcook them. For an extra burst of flavor, try adding a splash of balsamic vinegar or a squeeze of lemon juice to the skillet before serving. You can also experiment with different seasonings to find the combination that works best for you.
